Blue Cruising from Bodrum, the Saint-Tropez of Turkey

A sailing holiday along the Turkish southwest coast suitable for everyone

Thema: blue cruise - Turkije - Bodrum

The Turkish southwest coast lends itself perfectly to a small cruise, also known as a blue cruise. And not without reason, because the bays you pass are intensely blue, actually turquoise. It is impossible for large cruise ships to dock in the Robinson Crusoe-like coves. You reach places that are barely or not at all accessible by land.

Sustainable

Besides, travelling on sailing ships is a very sustainable way to travel, as wind is the most-used fuel alongside sun, from which energy is generated through solar panels. The engine is used when there is too little or too much wind, and when entering and leaving harbours.

History

Traditionally, the blue cruise belongs in Turkey, and it is still the best destination for it. Just after the founding of the Turkish republic, the blue cruise actually originated in this country! The story goes that the political writer Cevat Sakir was exiled to Bodrum, but that did not feel like punishment to him. In fact, he felt at home there immediately and began writing stories about the inhabitants, most of whom were fishermen. He sailed along with them on their boat trips and also invited his intellectual writer friends from Istanbul to join. That is how they came to know the beautiful bays and named the voyage the Blue Cruise, named after the colour of the water. Years later, Jacques Cousteau also filmed in this same area and called it a paradise on earth.

For whom

A blue cruise is for everyone, from young to old. For couples, groups of friends, solo travellers, families and families with children.

Each target group sails on its own ship. For couples and solo travellers there are the Adult Only Comfort Blue Cruises, and for families with children the Kids & Tiener Cruises.

It is also possible to charter a ship privately with your own group of friends or family. It always includes a captain, cook, sailor and steward. So you don't need to be able to sail and don't need to do anything else, as the crew does all the work.

Bucket list holiday

It is the ultimate relaxing and unwinding holiday, which you can make as active as you like. During the blue cruise you can swim, paddleboard, canoe, snorkel or water-ski to your heart's content in the beautiful blue coves. Or you can go golfing, cycling, walking ashore and visit sights from antiquity.
