The big cities are busy and densely populated, of course, but if you want to avoid them that is perfectly possible. You might fly into Buenos Aires and continue straight on to peaceful Patagonia or the north-west or north-east of Argentina. In Chile you fly into Santiago de Chile and can fly straight on to, say, the Atacama desert or Punta Arenas (Chilean Patagonia).
