Cultural-historical journeys in Southern Egypt and Northern Sudan, together with the Nubians
We would love to introduce you to a special part of Egypt: Nubia. This is where the Nubians live, an African people with their own language and culture. Nubia stretches from Southern Egypt (the area around Aswan) to Northern Sudan. In Sudan, the Nubians are one of the largest population groups.
Egyptian and Nubian history have always been closely intertwined. In the 25th pharaonic dynasty, the Nubians were the rulers (the period of the "black pharaohs"), while in other periods they were suppressed. In addition, and this is much less well known, the Nubians also had their own African kingdoms, separate from those of the pharaohs. For a long time, Nubia was mainly portrayed as a colony of Egypt, but it is becoming increasingly clear that Nubia was an independent African power with a rich culture. Remnants of this can be found particularly in Northern Sudan and in the area around Aswan in Southern Egypt.
Our journeys therefore concentrate on those areas and further south along the Nile in Ethiopia. And because Egypt as a whole has so much history, culture and natural beauty, we of course also offer that in our journeys.
With us, you can also discover Cairo and its surroundings, the desert areas, the Nile Valley, Luxor and its surroundings, of course Aswan and, right in the south, Abu Simbel. All of which can be combined with beach holidays on the Red Sea.
In all these places, we work with reliable partners, mostly Nubian. We therefore have an extensive network, which also allows us to develop tailor-made journeys. We have been doing this for over 10 years for an international clientele.
