About Wendy

Since 1998, I've been active in the travel industry. I ran my own travel agency and worked for several years as a lecturer and internship coordinator at the university of applied sciences for tourism. But Croatia always remained my great passion. My Croatian friends would regularly say: "Wendy, if you ever start out on your own again, show people our Croatia. This is our home, but it's yours too. Your heart lies here, with us."

In 2012, I followed my heart and founded Puur Kroatië. I still travel to Croatia several times a year, to discover special accommodations, visit local contacts, and put together new travel routes.

As a Croatia ambassador and Master Expert Croatia, I specialise in small-scale holidays, special encounters and authentic travel experiences, away from mass tourism.

Most memorable trip

One of my most special memories is the period right after the end of the war in Croatia, in the mid-1990s.

After all those difficult years, we were finally back at the Vakantiebeurs in Utrecht, proudly presenting our beautiful Croatia. A country that deserved to be rediscovered as a young, independent holiday destination.

The pride, the emotions and the enthusiasm of that moment I will never forget. It felt like a new beginning for a country so dear to me.
