Some 150 km from Pretoria lies the Pilanesberg nature reserve; at 550 km2, a beautiful park to explore. Around 7000 animals and 360 bird species live there. A road network of 200 km runs through the park, and as you drive there is a good chance you will come across animals, perhaps one of the big five we all hope to see. But also the remarkable tsessebe, one of the antelope species.
There are several places to stay in the park, such as the beautifully situated Bakubung Lodge, which has a waterhole right outside where animals are forever passing by for a drink.
Outside the park there is a wide choice of accommodation, and you can also choose to stay in Sun City. Driving in here you enter a completely different world, where everything revolves around entertainment, with the wilderness five minutes away.
Sun City has several hotels in various categories, all with a swimming pool and sharing "the Valley of the Waves". A beautifully laid-out wilderness hiding outrageous water slides that make you shiver, or you can simply enjoy the wave pool or lie on the beach. An experience for young and old.
