Burundi (also: Boeroendi), officially the Republic of Burundi, is a country in Africa that borders Congo-Kinshasa, Rwanda and Tanzania. In 1972 and between 1993 and 1999, ethnic violence between the Hutu and Tutsi tribes caused hundreds of thousands of refugees and at least 250,000 deaths.
