Cameroon, officially the Republic of Cameroon (French: République du Cameroun, English: Republic of Cameroon) is a country in Central Africa, formed on 1 January 1961 by the merger of French Cameroon and part of British Cameroon. Before the First World War, Cameroon was a German colony. Cameroon has 27,744,989 (2020) inhabitants. Thanks to a politically stable climate, the country has built up a good infrastructure. The country also has good agriculture and oil industry. There is a trend towards democratisation, but so far actual power in the country lies in the hands of a small minority. The current president is Paul Biya and the prime minister is Joseph Dion Ngute.
