About this destination
Vatican City is the smallest independent state in the world, a walled enclave in the middle of Rome and the centre of the Roman Catholic Church. You visit St. Peter's Basilica and St. Peter's Square, climb the dome for a view over Rome, and walk through the Vatican Museums to the Sistine Chapel. Book museum tickets in advance and mind the dress code: shoulders and knees covered. From the centre of Rome you can simply walk there.
