Libya, officially the State of Libya, (Arabic: دولة ليبيا Dawlat Lībiyyā) is a country in North Africa with an area of 1,759,540 km² and 6,890,535 (2020) inhabitants, largely of Arab and, to a lesser extent, Berber descent. The capital is Tripoli. The country lies on the Mediterranean Sea and largely belongs to the Sahara. The so-called second Libyan Civil War is raging there.
