Serbia (Serbian: Србија, Srbija), officially the Republic of Serbia (Serbian: Република Србија, Republika Srbija), is a country in the southeast of Europe. It has been an independent state since 5 June 2006, after having been part of Yugoslavia for 85 years and, between 2003 and 2006, of the confederation of Serbia and Montenegro. The capital of Serbia is Belgrade. Serbia should not be confused with the Republika Srpska, a constituent entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Serbia is the last remaining of all the countries of the former Yugoslavia.
