About this destination

The Seychelles, officially the Republic of Seychelles, is a country and archipelago in Africa north of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, roughly 1600 km east of the African continent. The Seychelles consists of more than 115 islands. Fewer than a third of these are inhabited. Of the 93,920 (2017) inhabitants, around 90% live on the main island of Mahé, which at 155 km² is roughly the same size as Texel. The capital, Victoria, is also located on this island. The Seychelles, in terms of population, is the smallest country in Africa and is among the smallest countries in the world.
