Sudan (Arabic: السودان), Sūdān, officially the Republic of Sudan, also known as North Sudan to distinguish it from South Sudan, is a country in Africa. It borders Egypt and Libya to the north, Chad and the Central African Republic to the west, South Sudan to the south, Ethiopia and Eritrea to the east, and the Red Sea to the northeast.
