About this destination
Ascension is a volcanic island in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean and part of the British overseas territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. The landscape is mostly bare lava and cinder cones, with a planted cloud forest on top of Green Mountain. Green sea turtles nest on its beaches. Tourism is small-scale: connections are scarce and visitors need permission in advance.
Best time to visit
