About this destination

Argentina (Spanish: Argentina), officially the Argentine Republic (Spanish: República Argentina), is a Spanish-speaking country in the south of South America, between the Andes and the southern Atlantic Ocean. It borders Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile. The country has around 44.3 million inhabitants (2017). Argentina has a total surface area of 2,780,400 km², making it the eighth-largest country in the world by area and the largest of the Spanish-speaking countries. The name of the country is derived from the Latin word argentum (silver), a precious metal that played an important role in the rise of European colonialism.
