About this destination
Grenada is the tenth-smallest country in the world. The island group lies in the Caribbean, north of Trinidad and Tobago and south of the Grenadines. Grenada is part of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. History The recorded history of Grenada begins in 1498, when Christopher Columbus visited the island during one of his voyages to the New World. He named the island Grenada. The Spanish did not found a permanent settlement on the island. Later the English attempted to possess Grenada, but they failed miserably, because the population of Grenada, the Caribs, prevented this.
