About this destination
Sint Eustatius is a Dutch island in the Caribbean (thus located in the Caribbean part of the Netherlands) that has formed a special municipality since 2010, administratively a Caribbean public body. It is located in the eastern part of the Caribbean Sea, and belongs to the SSS islands, and geographically, together with Guadeloupe, Saba and Sint Maarten, among others, to the Leeward Islands. The main town is Oranjestad. On the oldest map on which the island appears it is called Estatia. Later it was turned into Sint Anastatia and Sint Eustatius. The latter name stuck. In the Caribbean the island is called Statia (pronounced in English: ).
