Saint-Barthélemy (Dutch: Sint-Bartholomeus), officially the Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy, is an island in the Caribbean Sea and overseas community (collectivité d'outre-mer) of France. It lies south-east of Sint Maarten and north-west of Saint Kitts, and belongs to the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. It is also known as Saint Barts, Saint Barths or Saint Barth. The capital is Gustavia. The island is only 21 km² in size, and has 7,184 (2017) inhabitants, who are mainly descended from colonists from Normandy, Brittany and Poitou.
