Afghanistan (Pashto / Dari: افغانستان, Afghanistan), officially the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, is a country in Central Asia. The country has a population of around 31 million people, living in a territory of over 652,000 km². The country is bordered by Pakistan in the south and east, Iran in the west, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the north, and China in the far north-east.
