About this destination

Bahrain, officially the Kingdom of Bahrain (Arabic: مملكة البحرين Mamlakat al-Bahrayn), is a small island state in the Persian Gulf. It is an archipelago with 33 islands, the largest of which is some 55 km long and 18 km wide, situated off the coast of Saudi Arabia, to which it is connected via the King Fahd Causeway. To the southeast lies the peninsula of Qatar, with which a 40 km connection is under construction. Two hundred kilometres across the Gulf lies neighbouring Iran. As a centrally located Gulf state, Bahrain fulfils an important economic and financial position within the oil world. The name Bahrayn literally means two seas in Arabic.
