Bangladesh (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ, Bāṁlādesh, literally: "land of the Bengals"), officially the People's Republic of Bangladesh, is a country in South Asia. The country is bordered on three sides by India, but also has a stretch of border with Myanmar (Burma) in the southeast. In the south, Bangladesh has a coastline on the Bay of Bengal. The country consists mainly of the delta of the rivers Ganges and Brahmaputra. Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Due to its low-lying position at the mouth of large rivers, the country often suffers from flooding. The capital of the country, Dhaka (Dacca), is also the largest city.
