Georgia (Georgian: საქართველო, Sakartvelo) is a country in the Southern Caucasus, in Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Georgia is a member of the Council of Europe, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Eurocontrol, the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, and GUAM. Georgia has officially been a candidate member of NATO since 2011. The country borders Russia, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the Black Sea. The capital is Tbilisi. The Georgians are predominantly Christian. 84% belong to the Orthodox Church, mainly to the Georgian Orthodox Church.
