About this destination

Myanmar or Burma (Burmese: မြန်မာ; officially the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; ပြည်ထောင်စု သမ္မတ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော်‌) is a country in Southeast Asia. Myanmar borders Bangladesh and the northeast of India in the northwest, China in the north, and Laos and Thailand in the east. In the southwest it has a long coastline with the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea (parts of the Indian Ocean). Since 7 November 2005, the capital has officially been the centrally located Naypyidaw (near Pyinmana), although the move only began on that date.
